I found this thread on reddit: “Thank you for reaching out to me and for your question. After you’ve unlocked them, most of them can be upgraded a couple of times. They can be earned by performing certain actions in the game a certain number of times.
NBA 2K17 Badges are special titles that give certain bonuses when you unlocked them. Users can still play M圜areer mode offline, but will need to create a new offline save, effectively starting the game over. Once you take your M圜areer offline, you can’t go back online. The move will mean that all online functions of NBA 2K20 will cease being functional including online play, MyTeam, and any other mode that has VC incorporated in it, which is effectively the majority of them including M圜areer as well. NBA 2K20 servers will be shut down on December 31st, 2K Games has confirmed.
Upgrading badges from Bronze to Gold uses VC, and VC can only be spent online.
